“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am.”
Jesus is personally preparing a place for every believer. This is not a vague promise. It is a specific, personal work that He is carrying out even now.
3. Jesus Rules as King and Lord Over All Creation
Ephesians 1:22 states that God “placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church.” Furthermore, 1 Peter 3:22 says Jesus “has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand, with angels, authorities and powers in submission to Him.” Jesus is reigning. Every power in the universe is subject to Him.
4. Jesus Builds His Church
Matthew 16:18 records Jesus saying, “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Even now, Jesus is building His church through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is drawing people to Himself, strengthening believers, and advancing His kingdom on earth.
In summary, Jesus is interceding for you, preparing a place for you, ruling over all creation, and building His church. He is not distant. He is deeply involved in your life and in the world.
Can We See Images of Jesus in Heaven from the Bible?
The Bible does not provide a single photographic image of Jesus in heaven. However, it does give us vivid descriptions of His heavenly appearance. These descriptions are found primarily in the Gospels and in the book of Revelation.
The Transfiguration: A Glimpse of His Glory
In Matthew 17:2, we read that Jesus was transfigured before Peter, James, and John. “His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” This was a preview of Jesus in His heavenly glory. The disciples saw a glimpse of what Jesus looks like in His exalted state.
John’s Vision in Revelation
The apostle John saw a detailed vision of the risen, glorified Jesus in Revelation 1:13-16:
“Someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to His feet and with a golden sash around His chest. The hair on His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In His right hand He held seven stars, and coming from His mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.”
This is a powerful and awe-inspiring description. It reveals Jesus as majestic, holy, and full of glory.
Should We Rely on Images or Scripture?
While artistic depictions of Jesus can be meaningful to many believers, we must always turn to Scripture as our ultimate authority. No painting, statue, or image can fully capture the glory of the risen Christ. Second Corinthians 5:16 reminds us that even though we once regarded Jesus from a worldly point of view, we no longer regard Him that way.
Instead of relying on human-made images, we are invited to know Jesus through His Word. Hebrews 1:3 calls Jesus “the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being.” The Bible is where we find the truest picture of who Jesus is.
We encourage you to open your Bible and encounter Jesus there. His Word will reveal Him to you more clearly and more beautifully than any image ever could.
A Final Word of Encouragement
Jesus Christ is in heaven right now. He is at the right hand of the Father, reigning as King, interceding for you, and preparing a place for you. He existed with God before the world began. He came to earth out of love for you. He died for your sins, rose from the dead, and ascended in glory. And one day, He will return.
As Acts 1:11 promises, “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.” Until that day, He is with you through His Spirit, and He is preparing your eternal home.
