Who is Jesus?
Jesus Christ is believed by Christians to be the unique Son of God, sent by a loving Father to restore humanity’s broken relationship with Him. Though Jesus was perfect, He willingly entered our flawed world out of God’s immense love for us. Jesus’ miraculous birth shows His desire to relate to our human experience. Moved by unfathomable compassion, Jesus bore the punishment for our sins by suffering and dying on the cross. His sacrifice makes it possible for anyone to find forgiveness and fellowship with God the Father. When we put faith in Jesus, we no longer have to feel disconnected from God. Jesus removed the barriers so that we can confidently draw close to God, knowing we belong as His precious children. No matter who we are or what we’ve done, Jesus’ life and death reveals God’s deep, passionate desire for closeness and intimacy with all people. Through Christ, we are welcomed into God’s family.
The Annunciation
Jesus’ life began with an intimate encounter between God and a humble young woman. The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary with astonishing news: she had found special favor with God and would miraculously conceive God’s Son through the Spirit’s power.
Though startled, Mary courageously surrendered to God’s plan. “I am the Lord’s servant,” she replied. “May it be to me as you have said.” In this moment of breathtaking closeness, the Word became flesh.
Jesus, born of Mary’s womb, would fulfill the ancient prophecies as the long-awaited Messiah. As the Son of the Most High, he would reign in God’s kingdom forever. His coming brought God near, to walk among us in unfathomable love. The Annunciation marks the humble beginnings of our Savior, and the start of a new, intimate relationship between God and humanity.
This event is known as the Annunciation and is recorded in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 1:26-38).
"The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. And he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there will be no end."
The Nativity
The Nativity marks the miraculous moment when heaven came down to earth. Jesus, the King of Kings, entered our world as a helpless newborn baby lying in a manger.
Though he created the entire universe, Jesus humbled himself to be born into poverty, completely dependent on others. The Maker of all life had to be fed, sheltered, cleaned, and cared for as an infant. Out of pure love, Jesus embraced human fragility.
His first bed was a trough for animal feed, yet angels proclaimed his birth to awe-struck shepherds. A special star guided the wise men to worship the prophesied Messiah, born the Savior of the world.
The Nativity displays the awe-inspiring extent of God’s intimate love. He willingly limited himself as a vulnerable baby, so we could one day become His children. Jesus’ humble birth invites us to experience closeness with God who is beyond all power and riches, yet chose to dwell among us in tender love.
How powerful is love, that it even moves God to take such a step?
Baptism
At the age of thirty, Jesus chose to be baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. Yes the son of God chose to be baptised by man! Strange isn’t it? Is love so extravagant that He makes God willing to be baptised by his creature? What others would call blasphemy, he called that example of pure humility for us to follow.
This marked the beginning of his public ministry. Before this, he accepted the experience of growing up as a child, living among people, and working as a carpenter. After thirty years of preparation, he decided to go public and freely express love to people by allowing the power of God to manifest through him on Earth. The deep love he felt for people transformed him into God, prompting him to remain on Earth and lead a simple life—doing everyday tasks like washing clothes and doing the dishes alongside the people!
Temptation in the Wilderness
After his baptism, Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness, where he was tempted by Satan. However, Jesus resisted these temptations, demonstrating his divine nature and strength.
let’s image this scenario for a few seconds, despite being tempted when he was hungry he accepted to stay hungry and defeated the temptation. That’s why he is the only lamb worthy and why he could die for our sins and be raised from the dead, defeating sin and death forever. Because we would have never ever been able to do this! So, simple- The lover of our soul did it for us!
What did Jesus teach?
Jesus’ teachings form the cornerstone of Christianity. His words provide guidance and wisdom that still resonate with people today. Let’s explore some of his key teachings, drawing from the New Testament of the Bible.
Love Your Neighbor
One of Jesus’ most famous teachings is the commandment to love one’s neighbor as oneself. This principle is encapsulated in the Golden Rule, which is found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke:
"All the law and the prophets hang on two commandments: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:36-40)
This teaching emphasizes the importance of empathy and compassion in our interactions with others. It encourages us to treat others as we would want to be treated, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
Forgiveness
Jesus taught the power of forgiveness, which is central to Christianity. He famously said, “If you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Mark 11:25)
This teaching underscores the importance of letting go of anger and resentment, and instead choosing to forgive and reconcile with others. It reminds us that everyone makes mistakes and that true forgiveness allows us to move forward in our relationships.
The Kingdom of Heaven
Jesus often spoke about the Kingdom of Heaven. He described it as a place where the poor, the hungry, and the oppressed are given justice and peace. He said, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
This teaching suggests that our spiritual growth and fulfillment come from seeking God’s will and striving to live in a way that reflects God’s character. It encourages us to prioritize spiritual matters over material ones.
The Great Commission
In his final hours, Jesus gave his disciples the Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
This teaching is a call to action for Christians to spread the message of Jesus and make disciples of others. It underscores the missionary nature of Christianity and the importance of sharing the good news with others.
These are just a few of Jesus’ teachings that are still relevant today. They provide guidance for living a life of love, forgiveness, and service to others. By embracing these teachings, we can find purpose and meaning in our lives and contribute positively to our communities.
How did Jesus perform miracles?
Jesus performed numerous miracles during his ministry, demonstrating his divinity and power. These miracles were acts of God that served to confirm Jesus’ identity and authority, and they offered hope and healing to those who believed in him. Let’s explore some of these miracles, as they are recorded in the New Testament of the Bible.
Healing the Sick
Jesus healed many people who were physically ill. For instance, he cured two blind men, healed a man with a withered hand, and even raised Lazarus from the dead. These miracles demonstrated Jesus’ power to restore health and life, and they highlighted his compassion for suffering people.
Feeding the Multitude
One of Jesus’ most famous miracles is the feeding of the five thousand. Despite having only five loaves and two fish, Jesus multiplied them to feed thousands of people. This miracle shows Jesus’ provision for the needs of his followers and the wider community.
Walking on Water
Another miracle is Jesus walking on water. In the midst of a storm, Jesus calmed the waves and walked on them, proving his control over nature. This miracle shows Jesus’ power and authority over the elements.
Raising Lazarus from the Dead
Perhaps the most significant miracle performed by Jesus is the raising of Lazarus from the dead. This act was a powerful demonstration of Jesus’ power over death, affirming his divinity. Lazarus’s resurrection serves as a testament to the promise of life everlasting for those who believe in Jesus.
These miracles are just a few examples of the many acts of God that Jesus performed during his earthly ministry. Each of these miracles serves to reveal Jesus’ divinity and his ability to perform extraordinary feats that are beyond human capability. These miracles offer comfort and hope to those who experience suffering, and they serve as tangible evidence of Jesus’ love and care for humanity.
Why did Jesus die on the cross?
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is a central event in Christian belief, signifying the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus for the salvation of humanity. This event, as recorded in the New Testament of the Bible, is pivotal in understanding Jesus’ divinity and his role as a savior.
The Prophecy Fulfilled
Jesus’ death on the cross was prophesied in the Old Testament of the Bible. Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” This prophecy was fulfilled in the New Testament, particularly in the book of Isaiah, where Jesus quotes this verse during his trial before Pontius Pilate.
Atonement for Sin
The crucifixion was seen as a means of atonement for the sins of humanity. Jesus, being both fully human and fully God, was able to suffer on behalf of humanity, bearing the penalty for our sins. This act of sacrificial love is a core aspect of Christian theology, demonstrating God’s love for humanity.
Resurrection and Victory Over Death
The most significant aspect of Jesus’ death on the cross is not the act itself, but what followed. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and proving the victory of life over death. This event is celebrated annually on Easter Sunday.
"On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. Then they went back and told his disciples what they had done." (Matthew 28:1-4)
Preparation for Future Mission
Finally, Jesus’ death on the cross prepares him for his future mission. After his resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven, taking up his place at the right hand of God. From there, he continues to intercede for his people and prepare a place for them in heaven.
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is a profound event that demonstrates his divinity, his love for humanity, and his ultimate victory over death. It is a testament to the power of God’s love and the transformative potential of faith in Jesus Christ.
What happened after Jesus died?
After Jesus was crucified, he was laid in a tomb. However, on the third day, something extraordinary happened. The tomb was found empty, and Jesus appeared to his disciples. This event, known as the resurrection, is one of the most significant in Christian belief and serves as proof of Jesus’ divinity.
The Empty Tomb
On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and another Mary went to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body. They found the stone rolled away from the entrance, but when they entered, they did not find the body of Jesus. Instead, they saw two angels in white sitting where Jesus’ body should have been.
"They went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid." (Mark 16:8)
The Appearances of Jesus
Jesus appeared to various individuals after his resurrection. These appearances are recorded in the New Testament of the Bible, providing testimony to the fact that Jesus had risen from the dead. Some of the most notable appearances include Thomas (John 20:24-29), the disciples in Galilee (Luke 24:34), and Cleopas on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).
The Ascension
Finally, after forty days, Jesus ascended into heaven. This event is described in the book of Acts, where Jesus appeared to his disciples one last time and then disappeared into the clouds.
"While they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And as they were watching, he was carried up to heaven." (Acts 1:9)
The resurrection of Jesus is a pivotal event in Christian belief. It confirms that Jesus is indeed the Son of God, and it provides hope for the eternal life of all believers. The resurrection also sets the stage for Jesus’ promised return, a future event eagerly awaited by all Christians.

Jesus frequently referred to himself in ways that suggest his divinity. For instance, he claimed to be the Son of God, the Messiah, and the Savior of the world. He also spoke of his divine origin, saying, “Before Abraham was born, I am!” (John 8:58) and “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” (John 6:35)
The Transfiguration
One of the most striking instances of Jesus’ divinity is the Transfiguration. While on the mountain, Jesus’ appearance changed, and Moses and Elijah appeared with him. A voice from the cloud declared, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 17:5) This event is a clear revelation of Jesus’ divinity, as it shows God the Father acknowledging Jesus as his own Son.
The Crucifixion and Resurrection
The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus are perhaps the most powerful demonstrations of his divinity. Jesus’ death and resurrection fulfill the prophecies of the Old Testament and establish his divinity beyond any doubt. His resurrection also confirmed his promises of eternal life and new life for his followers.
These events in Jesus’ life are not isolated incidents, but rather, they are interconnected threads that weave together to paint a vivid picture of his divinity. How can we live according to Jesus’ teachings?
Living according to Jesus’ teachings involves adopting a lifestyle that reflects his values and principles. This includes practicing love, forgiveness, kindness, and generosity, among other virtues. Let’s explore some practical steps to incorporate Jesus’ teachings into our daily lives.
Love Others

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." (John 13:34)
Forgive Others
Another key teaching of Jesus is forgiveness. Holding onto grudges and harboring resentment can hurt you as much as it hurts the person who wronged you. Jesus teaches us to let go of these feelings and extend forgiveness.
"But if you forgive others their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their wrongdoing, your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing." (Matthew 6:14-15)
Serve Others

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)
Pray Regularly

Getting alone with God is a safe space to be real and He will guide us to through his own Spirit in us how to live this life.
"And whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:6)
